* Accepting new patients
Terri is excited to be a new team member @ Wildwood Health & Performance!
Bringing over 21 years experience to the table.
Her diverse massage background started in Ontario graduating in June, 2000 from a 3 year Massage Therapy program at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario. Growing up in a hockey and baseball oriented family led to an interest in anatomy, physiology and injury rehabilitation. Continued education in nursing eventually guided her down a path into the more relaxed field of massage therapy.
Primarily, beginning her work in long term care facilities and a physiotherapy clinic. In time, evolving into managing her own practice/mobile service. She has gained extensive experience working towards improving conditions such as fibromyalgia, tension headaches, repetitive strain injuries, whiplash and sciatic/piriformis syndrome. Terri has had the opportunity to work with many athletes such as competitive university rowing crews, an olympic status surfer and alpine skiers, a Canadian junior powerlifter, competitive bodybuilders and marathon runners to name a few. However, she is capable of treating people from all walks of life with a variety of physical disorders and limitations. Travel has granted her the occasion to work in renowned spas from Toronto to Tofino and the Comox Valley. Eventually, settling at Solace Wellness Centre in Nanaimo over the past 6 years.
Terri is passionate about applying therapeutic solutions to the challenges patients present. Finding it deeply rewarding to assist in their progress and recovery. Due to her own struggles of healing from limiting and painful injuries she has an empathic outlook to treatment. Supporting a relaxed approach to wellness and holding a safe space is naturally created by her calm and intuitive nature. She is able to apply her skilled service incorporating assessments and patient based treatment goals. Techniques include an assortment of advanced Swedish Massage such as trigger point therapy, muscle stripping and myofascial release. Other modalities of interest include muscle energy technique and gentler approaches to relaxing the nervous system with craniosacral therapy. Terri applies her knowledge in a variety of meaningful ways. A key component of her holistic perspective to treatment is lending guidance on strengthening and yoga/stretch routines that can be of benefit to clients for home care, health maintenance and injury prevention.. She takes pride in her professional standards and work ethic while assisting patients to gain a sense of recovery, wellness and relaxation.
